A map of the French encampment at Schermbeck under the command of de Souvré, 21 May 1757. Seven Years War (1756-63). Oriented with north to top. 

The march from the previous encampment at Wesel to Schermbeck was about 17 km or 11 miles. The encamped regiments are: Champagne; Lionnois; Gardes Lorraines; Dauphin; la Marine; Picardie. 

A key to the symbols used to distinguish between the infantry, cavalry, dragoons, and hussars, appears on the Carte des Cantonnemens, de L'Armée at RCIN 732002.ax.
