A map of the Battle of Heilsberg, fought on 10 June 1807 between the French and the Russians, neither side gaining outright victory. Napoleonic Wars (1803-15).

The map is accompanied by two irregularly shaped 'papillons' or flaps, each of which show different troop positions. They are engraved on the same plate (see RCIN 735135.a), and were intended to be cut out and pasted to RCIN 735135.b. A printed account of the battle, and explanation of the letters on the map, is at RCIN 735135.c.

Condition: one fold line. Verso: induced discolouration.
