A map of the town and siege of Badajoz, carried on by the Allied army, commanded by General Arthur Wellesley (1st Duke of Wellington; 1769-1852) between 17 March and 6 April 1812, resulting in the surrender of the town by the French. Napoleonic Wars (1803-15)Peninsular War (1808-14). Oriented with north-north-west to top (compass rose).

The scale bar is engraved on a strip of paper which is pasted over the original scale bar which reads: 'Scale of 15 [??] English'. The units of measure of the obscured scale bar are in Varas.
