The action on 13 June, shown on this map, was part of the siege of Cuddalore which lasted from 7 June to 25 July. British troops, including Hanoverians, under the command of Major General James Stuart, had arrived in the area on 7 June; the decision was made to attack the redoubt on the 13th. Although both sides suffered serious losses, Stuart went on to lay siege proper to the town. The outlines of the fortifications of Cuddalore are shown protruding from under the title scroll.
