A map of the siege of Corfu between 28 July and 22 August 1716 by the Ottoman army, commanded by Canum Koca Mehmed Pasha (active 1684-1736), who was defeated by Field Marshal Johann Matthias von der Schulenberg (1661-1747), commanding the Austrian army as allies of Venice. Venetian-Turkish War (1714-18). Oriented with west-north-west to top (compass rose).

The map shows in detail the Ottoman trenches, batteries and camps and the fortifications of the city of Corfu and the lines of fire between the Imperial and Ottoman batteries. The island of Vido (Nísída Vido 39°38ʹ32ʺN 19°55ʹ31ʺE) is shown in its entirety, with the Ottoman battery at its western end.

An accompanying manuscript journal of the siege is at RCIN 727003.b. Another manuscript map, covering the same area and showing similar detail, is in the Marburg Archiv: HstAM Karten WHK 17/3a.

Condition: two fold lines. Verso: surface dirt along left edge, consistent with the map having been formerly stored as a roll; fragments of printed text adhering to verso; foxing.
