A map of the Battle of Czaslau or Chotusitz, fought on 17 May 1742 between the Austrians, commanded by Prince Charles Alexander of Lorraine (1712-80) and the Prussians, commanded by Frederick II of Prussia (Frederick the Great; 1712-86), resulting in a Prussian victory. First Silesian War (1740-42): part of the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with south to top.

This map shows the positions of the encampments of the Prussian and Austrian armies on 16 May. The battle was fought on ground between Czaslau and Chotusitz (Chotusice, Středočeský Kraj, Czech Republic 49°56'56"N 15°23'39"E). Kuttenberg (Kutná Hora, Středočeský Kraj, Czech Republic 49°56'54"N 15°16'05"E) lies to the north-west.

Condition: one fold line; surface dirt along left edge. Verso: bottom centre, water-stained patch from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label; ghosting from the image of the label can be seen; the removal of the label has caused damage to the map, including a tear; the water-staining is unsightly on the recto.
