A map of the Battle of Poltava, fought on 8 July 1709 between the Russians, commanded by Peter I (the Great; 1672-1725) and Field Marshal Aleksandr Danilovich Menshikov (1673-1729), and the Swedes, commanded by Charles XII (1682-1718) and Field Marshal Carl Gustav Rehnskiöld (1651-1722), resulting in a Russian victory. Great Northern War (1700-1721). Oriented with north-east to top (compass rose).

The title appears in the top right, in a cartouche surmounted by the Russian coat of arms, around which hangs the Order of St Andrew and, to the left, a flag with the three crowns of Sweden and, to the right, another with the Swedish lion.
