A low oblique view of Nagykanizsa showing the siegeworks of Nicholas VII of Zrin (Nikola Zrinski; Hungarian: Zrínyi; 1620-64) – the 'Conte Serin' in this print – against the Ottoman forces in April 1664. Zrinski was the Ban [viceregal governor under the Habsburgs] of Croatia from 1647-1664. Oriented with south-west to top. Habsburg-Ottoman Wars (Fourth Austro-Turkish War) (1663-4).

The siege was lifted in May on the approach of Ottoman relief forces. Zrinski's battery is shown, bottom right, with, in the foreground a cannon whose range is being adjusted by a gunner using a form of inclinometer. The marshy surroundings of the fortress town are represented by symbols of tufted grass or reeds, crossed by bridges.
