A high oblique view of the arrival of the great, final relief force which was led by Don Garcia of Toledo who had left Messina in 63 galleys on the 21 August. They captured, en route, a carrack loaded with munitions which was destined for the Turkish camp. Coming within sight of Malta, the relief force held off for several days for fear of being intercepted. On the eve of the Nativity of the Glorious Virgin, which was the 7th September, they arrived at Malta in the formation shown in this view.
