A view, looking south-east, of the land and sea assault by the Turks on the island of St Michael on 15th July 1565.
This view shows the attack on the spur of St Michael in which the Christians sank six large and four small Turkish boats, and took a Turkish frigate prisoner, together with some Turks, capturing six Turkish standards. About 800 Turks, 80 Christians/Maltese and 80 knights were killed or wounded.
See RCIN 721033.a for further information and literature and further reading.
