A view of the Battle of Liegnitz, fought on 13 May (N.S.) 1634 between the forces of the Electorate of Saxony, commanded by Hans George von Arnim-Boitzenburg (1583-28 April 1641) and the army of the Holy Roman Empire under Hieronymous von Colloredo (1582-16 July 1638), resulting in a Saxon victory. Thirty Years War (1618-1649).
This print bears a superficial resemblance to Merian's view of the battle which was published between pp.226 and 227 of vol.III of the Theatrum Europeaum (1639) but there are significant differences of detail between the two.

Condition: one fold line; creased; brown discolouration around the edges of the print from the paste between view and mount; left edge torn and old repair with paper on verso. Verso: brown ink stains; some foxing. Pressure marks on verso
