A low-middle oblique view of Fort de Gelasse as it was in March 1629, which guarded the approach route from the west to Susa. Huguenot Rebellions or Rohan Wars (1627-9). Oriented with south to top (orientation written inside centre of top and bottom neatlines).

The geographical situation of the fort is described in Auguste Jubé de la Perelle, et al, Histoire des guerres des Gaulois et des Français en Italie. Paris: Bernard (1805). Vol.III, Pt.1, p.56: 'A une demi-lieue environ de Chaumont, sur les terres du duc de Savoie et sur le chemin qui conduit à Suse, se trouve un rocher escarpé de tous les côtés, qui n'est abordable que par une seule pente étroit et bordée de précipes: les Français le nomment Gelasse, et Piémontais Gravière. Là étaient placés le village et le fort de Gelasse …'
