A middle-high oblique view of the events before, during and after the Battle of Höchst, fought on 20 June 1622 (N.S.) between the catholic forces of the Holy Roman Empire, commanded by the Dutch Field Marshal John Tserclaes, Count of Tilly (February 1559-30 April 1632), against a Protestant army led by Christian the Younger of Brunswick (20 September 1599-16 June 1626), resulting in a royalist victory. Thirty Years War (1618-48). Oriented with east to top.

The manuscript text at the top of the map may have been copied from printed text (either engraved or letterpress) relating to the engraved letters on the map. Tilly's name is mentioned in reference to his foot soldiers and cavalry which are shown in the view the marauding forces of Ernst, Graf von Mansfeld (c.1580-29 November 1626), who, fighting here in the Rhenish Palatinate on the side of Frederick V ravaged the area.
