A high oblique view of the Battle of Rheinfelden, fought on 28 February and 3 March 1638 between a French mercenary army commanded by Bernard of Saxe-Weimar (16 August 1604-18 July 1639) and a Bavarian and Imperial army, under Johann von Werth (1591-16 January 1652) resulting in a Weimar victory. Thirty Years War (1618-1648).

This is a re-working of the plate from which was printed the view of the siege of Rheinfelden, June 1634 (see RCIN 722081).

    Condition: four fold lines; creased; worn along folds; brown discolouration; a small piece of another print, together with a small remnant of a Type A mount adheres to the left side of the mount. Pressure marks from the mounts of items which were kept above and below this print in a different collection are present on the recto and verso
