The settlement of Diegem is identified, bottom left, by the accurate depiction of the spire of the church of Sainte Catherine and Saint Cornelius, which is a tiered construction. The settlement to the north-east is Melsbroek (50°54'56"N 04°28'47"E). The tree-lined road was the main road to Louvain (Leuven 50°52'46"N 04°42'03"E). This sketch would have formed one of the compilation sources for Schultz's fair drawing of the encampments along the Brussels Canal at RCIN 729136.
Condition: nine fold lines; formerly folded to 15.0 x 9.3 cm; surface dirt along fold lines on recto; brown stains; trimmed.
