A map of the military operations against Charleston by the British, commanded by General Sir Henry Clinton (1730-95) and Vice Admiral Sir Marriot Arbuthnot (1711-94). American War of Independence (1775-83). Oriented with north to top.

The siege of Charlestown took place between 29 March and 12 May 1780. Benjamin Lincoln, commanding the Continental army, surrendered to the British, commanded by General Sir Henry Clinton. The route of the British army, from its landing at North Eddiston Inlet on 11 February, to its destinations on James Island, is coloured in red.
