Daniel Paterson has annotated a printed map which was compiled from source materials relating to roads provided by him and acknowledged in the title of the map. The date of execution of the manuscript contents of the map (1783) is taken from the date of Paterson's commission as Captain in the 36th Foot, the rank with which he writes his name on the title page of the volume.
