A view of the situation of the French and British fleets on the night of 1 August 1798 during the Battle of the Nile, 1-2 August 1798. French Revolutionary Wars (1792-1802)

The key to this plate is attached to the left of the first plate at RCIN 735070.a. The upper case letters in the title are engraved in faint outline; the remainder of the text is also faintly engraved, suggesting that this may be a proof copy. This is one of three views taken from Thomas Whitcombe's paintings of the battle; the companion prints are at RCINs 735070.a and c.
