The note explains that the camp is situated in a fertile corn-growing region, with easy transport facilities being provided by the River Sambre. Behind the camp, the terrain is not open and is full of hedges and woods although to the front it is quite open and the whole area can be seen. The map does not appear to show the rear hinterland since there are no symbols for hedgerows and few woods are depicted. The portrayal of marshy or dampland is by a naturalistic colour mix of blue, brown, and yellowish-green wash. Cavalry (blue), dragoons (red) and infantry (yellow) are distinguished by colour.
The encamped regiments are: Pentievre, D'Egmont, Auvergne, Baltazar, Ogilvie, Royal Ecossois, Provence, Poitou, Dampiere, Bellefonds, Lusignan.
