1728 or later

Pen, ink and watercolour on paper | Scale: not stated | RCIN 727027

A map of the encampment of the Hanoverian Regiment of Guards on the plains of Hanover in May 1728.

The site of this encampment was on the heathlands to the east of Hanover, in the area of the Eilenriede forests, in the vicinity of the Pferdeturm, a medieval tower.

The tabulation giving the strength of the Guards Regiment at June 1728, groups them in two battalions and lists the names of the company commanders, lieutenants, and ensigns, and the numbers of sergeants, under officers, corporals, drummers and privates in each. Each of the fourteen companies has a complement of 100 officers and men.

The following officers are named: General Baron von Bülow, Captains von Seise, von der Bourg, von Weihe, von Quiter, von Harling, von Derendahl, von Ledebowr, Graf von Kielmansegge, von Lindholtz; Majors von Spoercke, von Diepenbroick; Obrist Lieutnant [Lieutenant-Colonel] von Bothmar; Obrist [Colonel] von Ilten.
