The Present quarters of the foot / and the distance of each quarter from London

1755 or later

Pen, ink and watercolour on paper | Scale: not stated. 1:495,500 approx. | RCIN 731057

A map of south-east England, 1755. Oriented with north to top. A crudely drawn and lettered map, though the lettering of the words ‘Lighthouse’ (at Dungeness and Margate) is polished, and may be in a different hand. Arabic figures written to town names near London identify the locations of the quarters and probably refer to the number of the regiment. Condition: four fold lines; worn along fold lines; surface dirt. Verso: induced discolouration; heavy surface dirt on outside two fold panels.
