Pencil, pen, ink and watercolour on paper | Scale: not stated | RCIN 727030.b

A map showing manoeuvres of the Hanoverian army in 1729 at Hanover.

The site of these manoeuvres was on the heathlands to the east of Hanover, in the area of the Eilenriede forests, in the vicinity of the Pferdeturm, a medieval tower. The manoeuvres were probably undertaken for one of several military reviews undertaken by George II during his first visit to Hanover as King of Great Britain in the summer of 1729.

Condition: four fold lines; surface dirt on outer fold panel. Verso: induced discolouration.
