A view of HMS Naiad towing HMS Belleisle off Gibraltar following the Battle of Trafalgar, fought on 21 October 1805 between the British and the French, resulting in a British victory. Napoleonic Wars (1803-15).

The view shows the dismasted Belleisle being towed by the Naiad against the background of the Rock of Gibraltar. Between the two ships, a tower on the hillside in the background flies the Spanish flag, while, to the right, on the slopes of the Rock of Gibraltar, flies the English flag. The half submerged masts of sunken ships can be seen near the shoreline.
