This text gives an account of the physical geography of the region of Sevenes (Cévennes) and the actions of Louis XIII in this theatre of operations from 1620 to ‘auiourd ‘huy’ [i.e. 1629]. The text explains that the purpose of the small-scale map of Sevenes is to illustrate the places newly taken by the Royal army, together with the importance of the passes they occupied, finishing with a note on the principal rivers.
The plans of La Gorce, Salavas, Bariac, and Sainct Ambroix, referred to in the title, are printed on one sheet and can be seen at RCIN 722039.k.
The cartographer of the small-scale map, Sieur Fabre, was the author of Les Practiques Du Sieur Fabre, sur L’Ordre et Regle de Fortifier, Garder, Attaquer, et Deffendre Les Places. Auec vn facile moyen pour leuer toutes sortes de Plans, tant des Places & des Bastimens, que de la Campagne pour les Cartes. A PARIS, Chez SAMVEL THIBOVST, au Palais, en la Gallerie des prisonniers.
