A map/high oblique view of the Battle of Choczim, fought on 11 November 1673 between the forces of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, commanded by John Sobieski (1629-96; from 1674 John III Sobieski, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania) and those of the Ottoman Empire, commanded by Hussain Pasha, resulting in a Polish victory. Polish-Ottoman War (1672-6). Oriented with north to top.
This image is a combination of map elements and high oblique view. The relative positions of the places are highly distorted. The map extends from Zamosci (Zamość, Lublin Voivodship, Poland 50°43ʹ23ʺN 23°15ʹ07ʺE) in the north-west to Baranow (Baranivka, Zhytomyr, Ukraine 50°18ʹ00ʺN 27°40ʹ00ʺE) and Korset (Korets', Rivne, Ukraine 50°37ʹ00ʺN 27°09ʹ38ʺE) in the north-east, and from the Danube in the south-west, to Bialogrod (Bilhorod-Dnistrovs'ky, Odessa, Ukraine 46°11ʹ43ʺN 30°20ʹ58ʺE) in the south-east.
