A map of the action near Porto Novo on 1 July 1781 in which the British army, commanded by Lieutenant-General Sir Eyre Coote (1726-83), defeated the army of Hyder Ally. Second Anglo-Mysore War (1780-84). Oriented with west-north-west to top (cardinal points). 

The title appears in the top, left of centre, in a rectangular panel containing a vignette of the battle with the coat of arms of the East India Company.
