The map extends from Torwood (56°02'34"N 03°51'39"W) in the north to south of Falkirk, and from Bonnie Bridge (Bonnybridge 56°00'05"N 03°53'18"W) in the west to Calender House (Callendar House 55°59'40"N 03°46'00"W) and grounds in the east.
Drawn mainly in grey monochrome, showing the positions of the Highlanders and the King’s army and the ‘Hollow Ground by which the Rebells conceald their March to the Right’, and the ‘March of the King’s Troops by the Road’.
Dedication: [left, in a rococo cartouche embellished with cannon and standards (flags), surmounted by the crowned English lion flanked by regimental standards:] To His Royal Highness The Duke [of Cumberland] / By His Most Devoted / Most Obe:t and faithfull Servt / Will Cuninghame.
Additional text: [top left, in a cartouche representing draped material, a key, A-I, K-S, to the military features on the map:] EXPLAINATION.
Condition: six fold lines; two tears along folds have been repaired on verso with paper strips before being laid down on linen; surface dirt on recto, brown stains and wear along fold lines. Verso: foxing; top left, water-stained patch and shadow from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
