A map of the Battle of Leuthen, fought on 5 December 1757 between the Prussians, commanded by Frederick II (the Great, 1712-86) and the Austrians, commanded by Prince Charles Alexander of Lorraine (1712-80), resulting in a Prussian victory. Seven Years War (1756-63). Oriented with north to top. Inset: [bottom left, a small-scale map of the area to the west of the River Oder, extending from Breslau in the east to Liegnitz and Schweidnitz in the west.] Scale: 1:144,320 approx. Scale bar: Echelle d'un mile d'Allemagne [53 mm]. Size: 10.5 x 16.0 cm (neatline). Oriented with north to top (cardinal points). Additional text: [bottom, below map, letterpress, a key, A-I, K-R, I-VIII, to the details on the map.] Condition: one fold line; one hole to left and right margins, matching. Verso: some offsetting; bottom, right of centre, water-stained patch, fragments, shadow and red ghosting from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
