Engraving and etching; printed on paper; hand coloured | Scale: 1:30,000 approx. | RCIN 732112

A map of the Battle of Minden fought on 1 August 1759 between the Allied army and the French resulting in an Allied victory. Seven Years War (1756-63). Oriented with south-south-east to top (cardinal points and magnetic north).

This version in French of Roy's plan of the Battle of Minden (RCIN 732111.a) was included in Friedrich Wilhelm Bauer's volume of maps of the Seven Years War which was published by Pierre Gosse and Daniel Pinet in 1769 (see RCIN 732001.t), although it is possible that this map may have been published earlier. Bauer, who compiled his own map of the battle (see RCIN 732113) had also been present at the Battle of Minden as a Prussian cavalry officer and quartermaster in the Allied army under Ferdinand and may have known Roy.
