A map of Brunswick and its immediate environs, showing, in red, the march route taken by Frederick Augustus from the village of Oelper to the gates of the city on 14 October 1761. Seven Years War (1756-63). Oriented with north to top (cardinal points).

The liberator of Brunswick was Frederick Augustus of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (1740-1805), a nephew of Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick-Lunebourg. He had also fought at the Battle of Vellinghausen, 16 July 1761. Another example of this map is at RCIN 732001.w.
