A map of the Bay of Cancale to illustrate the expedition to the French coast under the Duke of Marlborough in June 1758. Seven Years War (1756-63). Oriented with north to top (cardinal points).

The positions of the camp of the 1st Guards, the 1st Brigade, the Light Horse and the Artillery at Paramé are shown, together with the routes, shown in yellow, taken by the troops and the location of disembarkation on 5 and 6 June and re-embarkation on 12 June, and the positions of the camp at Cancale. Fields cultivated, perhaps with wheat (a forage crop), are shown in yellow with pecked stripes representing ploughed furrows.

Condition: one fold line. Verso: surface dirt; induced discolouration; water-stained patch and shadow from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
