Napier (1703?-66) was ADC and military secretary to Cumberland and had been in charge of the secret service in Scotland during the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745-6. It is possible that he met Roy in Scotland in the late 1740s.
Condition: six fold lines; torn along most of the length of the central vertical fold.
