A map of Louisbourg showing the British defensive works and encampments in 1758. Seven Years War (1756-63). Oriented with north to top (cardinal points).

The map extends from Fresh Water Cove in Gabarus Bay in the west where some of the British troops landed, eastwards to Flat Point, near where the provisions were landed, past the artillery landing place to Louisbourg, and including the bay and North East Harbour and surrounding area to the north-east of Louisbourg. New roads are marked, as well as the positions of British batteries, camps, etc.

Condition: three fold lines; a small tear to the bottom of each fold line; brown stains; double pin holes to each corner, and at intervals around the edges. Verso: brown stains; red ink smudges; surface dirt; bottom right, shadow and ghosting from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
