The ‘Capitaine du Plat’ referred to in the old catalogue entry (there was no ‘C. du Plat’, as suggested by the signature), would, at this date, have been A.H. du Plat. The key, bottom right, gives symbols for bad places, inferior bridges, and places where pontoon bridges could be built. The army had camped at Remen (i.e. Rehme) on 14 June (see RCIN 732002.1.ag). The source for the attributed date of 10 June for the date of the detail of this map, made by one of George III's librarians in the old catalogue entry, is not known.
Condition: five fold lines; creased; small hole, right, above centre; brown stains; top right and bottom right corners diagonally cut; surface dirt on verso.
Anton Heinrich du Plat (1738-91) (draughtsman) [bottom right:] C. du Plat.
