A map of Kassel and environs, besieged by the Allied army from 18 August, and surrendered by the French on 1 November 1762. Seven Years War (1756-63). Oriented with north-north-east to top (cardinal points).

Another example of this map is at RCIN 732001.y. Prince Frederick Augustus (1740-1805) was in 1763 made a Lieutenant-General (by which title he is addressed in the dedication of this map) in the Prussian Army under the command of his uncle, Frederick II (the Great) of Prussia (1712-86).

Condition: one fold line. Verso: induced discolouration; surface dirt along right edge.
