The attribution to Robert George Bruce and the dating of the map is based on the annotations on the verso and the style of the map.
The British expeditionary force,commanded by Admiral Sir Edward Hawke and General Sir John Mordaunt, which comprised 12,000 men, had sailed from Chatham and left Spithead on 8 September. This outline map shows the positions from where land was sighted as well as the anchorages.
Condition: two fold lines; induced discolouration on verso.
