A plan of the town and citadel of Belle Isle, besieged and taken by the British, commanded by Major-General Studholme Hodgson (Master of the Horse to the Duke of Cumberland; 1707/8-1798), between 2 May and 7 June 1761. Seven Years War (1756-63). Oriented with north-west to top (cardinal points).

The style of the map is typical of the Board of Ordnance Drawing Room in the Tower of London and may have been copied from an original for distribution to senior military officers.
