A view of the Suffolk, Houghton, and Godolphin in action with two French ships of war off the Cape of Good Hope on 9 March 1757. Seven Years War (1756-63).

This engagement between the Hon. East India Company's ships Suffolk, Houghton and Godolphin resulted in the two French ships, Illustre and Balcine, being beaten off.

An example of this print was sold at auction by Stephan Welz & Co (Johannesburg, SA) in 2000 in which the transcription of the title included the words 'Off The Cape Of Good Hope' which are absent from the title of RCIN 732006.

Condition: no fold lines; slight foxing to both sides.
