Extends from the outskirts of Maastricht in the north to south of a line from Eben (50°47'07"N 05°39'41"E), Nay (Lanaye 50°46'44"N 05°41'46"E) and Oost Eesden (Eijsden 50°46'48"N 05°43'03"E). The positions of the French posts at Caster (50°48'31"N 05°41'19"E), in relation to those of the Allied advanced posts, are indicated. The line and encampment shown here on the west bank of the Meuse were part of the Allied army encampments which were made to the south and east of Maastricht after the Battle of Lafelt (2 July 1747), and while the siege of Bergen op Zoom (14 July-18 September 1747) was being conducted. The geographical relationship between the camp at St Peter's Hill and the rest of the army is shown on RCIN 730142.
