The attribution to Schultz is made on stylistic grounds and on the basis of the old catalogue entry.
This map has been compiled from source materials which include a tracing of Fricx's printed map of the area (RCIN 729062) which has then been enlarged, and detail from field surveys and reconnaissances has been added to the traced basic topographical detail of the printed map. Observations were probably taken from the spire of Diegem church (RCIN 729140). The troop rectangles which are cased by pecked lines, and a fainter colour indicate an earlier position for the encampment, particularly in the case of the Dutch and British to each side of Diegem. These rectangles, and some of the others, have small ink initials written to them: E or G or H or an indecipherable symbol. It is not clear what these represent. Compilation sketches for this map are at RCINs 729142 and 729143.
