A map of the encampments of the Allied army under the command of Prince Charles of Lorraine, and of the French army, under the command of Marshal Saxe, in the vicinity of Longchamps, north of Namur, 17-18 August 1746. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north-west to top (compass rose). The map extends from Grand Rosier (Grand-Rosiére-Hottomont 50°37'54"N 04°51'56"E) in the north-west to Longchamp in the south-east, and from Ostin just west of Dhuy (50°33'33"N 04°51'33"E) in the west to Branchon (50°37'44"N 04°58'24"E) in the east, a distance of about 6-7 km (4.3 miles) N-S, and about 15 km (9.3 miles) W-E. Additional text: [top left, below title, in title panel:] Le Quartier General des alliés, ou du Prince Charle / de Lorraine etoit à Long-Champ et Frocu. / Celui des Generaux anglois et Hessois à Engesin / Du Prince de Waldec au Chateau d’Ostein / Les Generaux Hannovriens campoient derriere leur Corps.
