A collection of eighteen maps of the encampments of the Allied army in the Netherlands, under the command of Prince Charles of Lorraine, between 17 July and 31 October 1746. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48)

Each plan is catalogued and described separately (see RCINs 730053.a-s). All the plans are drawn by the same draughtsman. The book comprises the following encampment plans: Gilze, Diessen, Achel, Peer, Zonhoven, Borgloon, Waremme, Braives, Meeffe, Libois, Ocquier, Harze, Fawes, Soumagne, Bombaye, Lanaken, Rosmeer, Amby. The campsites follow the march of the Allied army from Gilze southwards, then east and then north to the Maastricht area. 

Prince Charles Alexander, Duke of Lorraine (1712-80) was the brother-in-law of Maria Theresa of Austria and was Governor of the Austrian Netherlands 1740-80.
