A map of the encampment of the Allied army at Alden Biesen, 1747. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with west to top.

The attribution to Caroline Scott is made on stylistic grounds. The full title is written in a different hand. The proposed camp site is shown in relation to the roughly sketched surrounding villages; a general indication of relief is given by sketchy hachures, and arable land and marshland are annotated.

Condition: two fold lines; corners rounded after being laid down on linen. Verso: brown staining.
