A manuscript map of the encampment of the Allied army, and French field works at Graben, 1745. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north-west to top (cardinal points with magnetic north).

The area covered by the map extends from Rasenheim (Rußheim 49°11'13"N 08°25'28"E) in the north to Linckenheim (Linkenheim 49°07'31"N 08°24'36"E) in the south, and is bounded by the Rhine on the west. A series of French redoubts which were abandoned after the arrival of the Allies is shown to the east of Dettenheim (49°10'18"N 08°25'27"E).

This map shows the Rhine on its old course, before the river was straightened out. The old catalogue entry refers to the camp being near Philippsburg (49°13'54"N 08°27'38"E). This place is not shown on this map and lies about three miles (4.8 km) to the north of Graben.
