      A map of the encampment of the Allied army, under the command of Prince Charles of Lorraine, at Soumagne, 5-9 September 1746. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north-west to top.

      The march northwards from the previous camp at Fawes to Soumagne was about 11 km (6.8 miles). This campsite (Austrian, Hanoverian, Hessian, Dutch, English) extends across cultivated land from Fléron (50°36'54"N 05°40'50"E) in the west to Herve (50°38'27"N 05°47'36"E) in the east, a distance of about 7-8 km (circa 5 miles).
