Map of encampment at Terheijden, 1746 (Terheijden, North Brabant, Netherlands) 51°38'36"N 04°45'15"E
1746 or laterPen, ink and watercolour on paper | Scale: 1:8,900 approx. | RCIN 730045
A detailed topographical map showing roads, settlements, drainage, marshes and the extended lines of encampments of the Allied army to the north of Breda. The roads are coloured in red, but there is no indication of classification according to surface, or suitability for, for example, artillery. This map gives more information than the preceding plans (RCINs 730042, 730043) of this encampment: the detail is more precisely drawn and the disposition of troops in relation to settlements and field fortifications, and the greater and more particular identification of ‘goings’, suggests that this map has been made on the basis of field observations.
