Francis Stephen (1708-65) was the Grand Duke of Tuscany (1737-65), Holy Roman Emperor (elected 13 September 1745), and husband of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.
This camp of the Allied army, under the command of the Grand Duke of Tuscany and Marshals Traun and Bathyany, was about 12 km (7.4 miles) north-west of the previous camp at Langenselbold (see RCIN 729120) on 5-8 July. The camp at Windecken is shown on the north side of the River Nidder; the troop rectangles are coloured according to nationality which is not identified.
