A map of the Battle of Campo Santo fought on 8 February 1743 between the Austrian and Sardinian troops, commanded by Field Marshal Otto Ferdinand Graf von Traun (1677-1748) and Ferdinand Charles comte d'Aspremont-Lynden (1689-1772), and the Spanish, commanded by Jean Thierry du Mont, comte de Gages (1682-1753), in which both sides claimed victory. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north-north-east to top. A medium-scale map showing the first and second positions of the two armies. Symbols are used to differentiate between infantry, cavalry, and dragoons. Direction of movement is indicated by solid or pecked lines. Condition: slight foxing. Verso: top left, water-stained patch from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label; some ghosting is present from the label: VOL IV [?].
