A map of the Battle of Lafelt, fought on 2 July 1747 between the French army, commanded by Marshal Maurice Saxe (1696-1750) and the Allied army (Great Britain, Hanover, Austria, Dutch Republic), commanded by William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland (1721-65), Karl Josef Batthyány (1697-1772) and the Prince of Waldeck (1704-63) resulting in a French victory. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with south to top.

A fair drawn map showing the Battle of Lafelt, 2 July, and the positions of the encampments of the Allied and French Armies in the month after the battle. The Grande Commanderie at Alden-Biesen (not named) is also marked. The map extends from Smeermaas (50°53'05"N 05°40'24"E) in the north to Saint-Remy (50°41'44"N 05°42'14"E) in the south, and from Koninksem (50°45'55"N 05°26'20"E) in the west to Berg en Terblijt (50°51'42"N 05°47'00"E) in the east. At some time, possibly after the map entered the collection of George III, it was mounted and edged with red silk.
