    A map of the cantonments and marches of the British army in 1741 in the Duchy of Jülich. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with north to top.

    The attribution to Hancko is made on stylistic grounds. The map is bounded by the River Maas on the west, and the River Ruhr on the east, and extends from Rurermond (Roermond 51°11'39"N 05°59'15"E) in the north to Liège (50°38'00"N 05°34'00"E) in the south. Principal cities, towns, lines of communication, political boundaries, and the routes of the French army between Liège and Aix-la-Chapelle, and the encampments at Liège, Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen 50°46'35"N 06°05'00"E), Juilliers (Jülich 50°55''21"N 06°21'50"E), Heinsberg (51°03'48"N 06°05'59"E), Sittart (Sittard 50°59'54"N 05°52'10"E), St. Cornelis (Kornelimünster 50°43'41"N 06°10'38"E), Stolberg (50°46'25"N 06°13'33"E), Eschwiler (Eschweiler 50°49'06"N 06°16'18"E), Dueren (Düren 50°48'15"N 06°29'34"E) and Aldenhoven (50°54'00"N 06°17'00"E) are all shown, as well as the encampments of the French army at Liège and Aix up until July 1741.
